{All the President's Men}

This year 3 lovely gentlemen from the Gamma Kappa chapter of Sigma Chi are running for offices on USU's Student Government, ASUSU (Associated Students of Utah State University). There are many different positions available but the men were able to select to seek nomination in areas of best fit.

Sam White: Running for Student Advocate
Communication has always been an important part of Sam's life for many reasons and he believes it should never be a barrier between students and a satisfying experience at Utah State University. Sam is running for the lesser known and under-appreciated position, Student Advocate. He wants to use his interpersonal skills and love of speech and communications to make sure students are heard and understood. Growing up in a home with a hearing-impaired family member, Sam learned to communicate intuitively and effectively. He knows American Sign Language, English and essential elements of German and Japanese. His semester abroad in Asia exposed him to diverse lifestyles and people, and even before this trip he had never been known to pass judgment on any person. He has volunteered at past USU events like The Howl and USU's Mardi Gras party and has also done many hours of community service throughout Logan and Ogden. His goals are about promoting this position of USU ombudsman and knows that even in a world of ever-advancing communication technology there is still nothing better than a face to face conversation.

Zach Larsen: Running for Programming VP

Zach spent the 2009-2010 school year abroad in Austria. Since his year abroad he has gained a heightened appreciation for eclectic cultural events and diverse populations. Zach knows programming is important to any collegiate experience and wants to make an impact with events he plans next year. His leadership experiences in Sigma Chi have also enhanced his knowledge of how to program activities and run a budget. His goals involve Transparency, Satisfaction, Inclusion and Variety in events. In past years he has volunteered at The Howl, USU Mardi Gras parties and Homecoming events. Zach is an excellent student who speaks German, is a member of the German Club and spends time helping to promote activities with the Dominican Republic multicultural club. When it comes to college programming, the students are the customer and Zach believes the customer is always right.

Justin Zizumbo: Running for Diversity VP

Justin grew up in Ogden, UT but his love of culture and wide range of talents have given him an excellent perspective in life. Justin is running for Diversity VP because he believes in the power of diverse groups, clubs and activities on campus. He has been House Manager for Sigma Chi fraternity and has also served on IFC. He plays on several intramural sports teams each school year. He is a big supporter of the Polynesian Student Union. He has volunteered at various USU events including fundraisers. He is hoping to foster support for various multicultural clubs and diversity on campus by bringing guest speakers. He is also hoping to have events that will expose Utah State's campus to foreign films, foreign foods and unique cultural experiences. He would also like to use his knowledge of Buddhism and Catholicism to host different events that foster multi-religious education and unity!

Congratulations to these men for taking the first step in running for positions on ASUSU. The Greek community is certainly proud of their efforts. They are making the Gamma Kappa Chapter of Sigma Chi proud by promoting leadership on campus.

Good Luck Sigma Chis!!!!
